Breathing new life into the city centre

The change in all of our shopping habits has big implications for the future of the high street. Along with the improvements we are making now to enhance the area, support business and improve transport, we’re also looking at longer term projects that will create a city centre fit for the future.

City Centre North

At the heart of this is City Centre North project, which will evolve into the most sustainable city district in the UK, renowned for being an inclusive, biodiverse, and eco-friendly place for local communities and visitors.

A beautiful and purposefully designed open green space is at the heart of the plans. The proposed development will support the revitalisation of the whole of Portsmouth’s city centre, and the council’s aspirations for sustainable communities, better connectivity, and greener travel.

It will knit into existing communities, provide substantial green open space for all and create new walking and cycling routes between neighbourhoods.
